Kia ora, I’m Leah (she/her)
I’m here to encourage authenticity, self empowerment, and self discovery. We all deserve deep love, acceptance, and a happy life. It’s important to learn how to give these things to ourselves, both during tough times and moments of celebration.
My Approach.
My approach is holistic and considers the many different aspects that contribute to your well-being. The foundation of my practice is transparency and authenticity. The healing journey can be complex and long (don’t we wish there was a quick fix!), and while this can be hard, it is also beautiful. It’s an opportunity to be witnessed and to discover parts of yourself that you may not have explored before.
From here we can begin to gently challenge unhelpful beliefs and focus on self-empowerment, self-compassion, self-worth, and self love, leading to a more fulfilling and happy life. You are the ultimate expert in your own life; my role is to ask the right questions to help clarify the answers you already possess. Along with honouring the pain and grief, I aim for our sessions to be transformative, strengths based, and celebratory of the big and small wins along the way.
Counselling is your chance to unpack the past, make sense of what's going on now, and dream big about the future. I'm here to walk with you every step of the way, offering support, practical tools, guidance, and definitely even a laugh or two - (I bet you’ve got a sense of humour!)

Firstly, counselling is for everyone, not just for people who ‘have something wrong with them’ - I know there are people out there that still think this, but I am here to say that is not the case, because after all, haven’t we ALL struggled?
Counselling is like having a personal cheerleader, detective, and question master all rolled into one! It's a safe space to talk about what’s on your mind, figure out what’s holding you back, find ways to move forward, and of course, learn how to sit with those feelings.
There is a misconception that counsellors read minds, or try to ‘fix’ people. A counsellor doesn’t give advice, or make judgements on your life. Counselling is an opportunity to have your experiences, challenges and strengths witnessed and validated. From here self-discovery is explored deeper, and together the client and counsellor work together to process, and uncover strategies that will enhance well-being and beyond.

Family and friends are awesome for support, and it’s great to lean on them throughout life. But sometimes, we might feel a bit embarrassed, guilty, or like no one really gets us. And that’s okay! There are tons of reasons why we might need a little extra help, and that’s where counselling comes in. It’s a safe, judgement-free zone where you can be totally yourself—no filters needed. Sometimes we watch what we say around people we care about because we worry about what they think. In counselling, it’s all about you, and you can speak freely without any worries. It’s not often we get a space where all the attention is on our needs, and that alone can feel like a breath of fresh air. In counselling, you’re valued just as you are, and you’ll be empowered to figure out how you want to live and how to make it happen.

THE CURIOUS PARADOX IS THAT WHEN I ACCEPT MYSELF JUST AS I AM, THEN I CAN CHANGE.
